About me

Indo pictureHey! I’m Matthew and I’m a yo-yo dieter. I’m also a part-time student, full-time husband and most definitely a full-time daddy to two wonderful boys, the first born in September 2014 (on my first day in college!) and the second born in November 2016, plus another due August 2020. As someone in my late thirties, I also consider myself an avid grey hair hunter.

In my most recent posts, you can mostly find out about efforts I’m taking to combat the inevitable padding that arrives as life progresses, especially around my waist. It won’t be all hopeless causes though, I might talk about other stuff too.

Essentially, it’s about bouncing back from challenges and making continuous improvement (or trying anyway). To get an idea where it started, I’ve left the “about me” below which was written in 2014 – take it away, last-decade-Matthew:

I can also describe myself by putting the prefix ex- before a number of titles. For the purposes of this blog I shall mostly discuss one area and that is me as an ex-business owner dealing with the failure of that business. I left school at 15, midway through second level education. To make a long story short, now, almost 20 years later, I’ve returned to education and in the intervening years I managed to qualify as a mechanic and ran a relatively successful transport and merchandising business for 9 years. I built the business from the ground up when I was 20, employing many contractors and employees, and ultimately saw the business fail at the height of the recession.

I’m a strong believer in silver linings; I’m determined to find the positives in this situation and spend the next while improving myself. Have a look HERE at the things I hope to achieve.

See HERE for my blog as a chart my progress.
