Hey! I’m Matthew.
I’m overweight (alot less so than when I started this blog), unfit (ok, not unfit anymore but far from where I should be), entrepreneurial spirit dusting down after an abrupt failure and facing other challenging times too. But I’m happy! Happy? How come? Because I’m fortunate, have alot of other great things going on in my life (most importantly- a wonderful wife and 2 happy healthy boys with another on the way) and have a plan to fix the rest!
This isn’t the he story of someone in an elevated position, sitting pretty on their successes, failures in the distant past. This is the story of somebody trying to fix all the above; and I’ll document the journey, truthfully, win, lose or draw.
If like me, you’re an entrepreneur or yo-yo dieter, among many other things, I’d encourage to you to embrace and own your failures, and pull at least one positive from them. Have a look at some things I hope to do HERE and see how it’s going in my BLOG

Fair Play Matt, I’m very much in same position. All the best with Monday. Take’s some courage 😉

Hi there, I’m sitting here reading your blog and I’m simply speechless. My heart is breaking for you and your family. The pressures on people are abominable and all our Government do is sit back and allow a tax payer bailed out banking system to make short sighted decisions that will leave tax payers paying more in the future. If you don’t min me asking but why did you not apply for a Personal Insolvency Application? Wishing you every success in the future.

I also forgot to ask you is your mortgage with one of our bust banks or a foreign bank?

Hi Trisha,
Thank you for your message. I agree that the current government inaction is akin to the tail wagging the dog.
In relation to the pressure, it is certainly immense, even more so since entering the bankruptcy and knowing that for at least 3 years many aspects of your life will be under extreme scrutiny. However, we will try to make the most of the time and that is why I hope to improve area’s of my life such as health and education while I’m going through the process. My mechanism for dealing with the pressure is to create as many positive distractions as possible. Another aspect that should lighten the pressure is that, so far, the ISI seem fair to deal with and very approachable.
I had been advised by a number of PIPs prior to entering bankruptcy and they all confirmed that my income was below a level sufficient enough to bring creditors to the table.
Please, feel free to fire over anymore questions you may have.
Thanks
Matthew
